| Information | Family Law Facilitators are attorneys with experience in family law matters and who provide free assistance to unrepresented litigants regarding petitions, responses, Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) questions, child and spousal support calculations, motions, and general family law questions. Facilitators can help you in preparing your forms and can give you general information, but they cannot go with you to court. The Family Law Facilitator is not your lawyer, but a neutral person who does not represent any party. There is no attorney-client relationship between you and the Facilitator. Communications between you and the Facilitator are not confidential. You should consult with your own attorney if you want personalized legal advice or strategy, have a confidential conversation, or be represented by an attorney in court. | Information | A Small Claims Advisor is available to give assistance to anyone who is involved in a Small Claims case or who may become involved in a Small Claims case. The Small Claims Advisor can also help with Small Claims appeals as well as “post judgment” matters such as collection of money by writs and liens. Who We Are
Self Help Centers can assist with filling out paperwork and understanding court processes. However, the staff at these centers do not give legal advice or provide legal representation. This is because they are open to everyone in a community and must be able to provide help to both parties in a court case. Self Help Centers are a great option for people who are representing themselves in court or when they aren't eligible for legal aid.
