How to Get Help

WALK-IN
Information

Prospective clients may seek to access services by walking in Mon - Thur, 9:15am - 11:30am, Mon, Tue & Thur, 1:15pm - 4pm or by calling (707) 542-1290 during business hours (if an accommodation is needed). In order to complete an intake to be assessed for services, intake paperwork must be completed and proof of income provided, including a self-declaration if proof is unavailable.

LEGAL CLINIC
Information

Legal Aid offers monthly workshops on topics including expungement, driver’s license retrieval, debt collection, bankruptcy, and family law. Workshops are open to the public but you must RSVP by email to attend. Please email hbrowne@legalaidsc.com for the current workshop schedule and to RSVP for workshops.

Who We Are

Legal Aid of Sonoma County has provided services to Sonoma County's indigent population for over 50 years. Founded in 1958 and incorporated in 1983 as a private non profit, Legal Aid provides crisis legal services to low-income families and children.
 
Legal Aid provides assistance with restraining orders through the SAFE Program (services for domestic violence and civil harassment victims), assistance with guardianships through the C.A.P.P. Program (services for child abuse and neglect victims), assistance with habitability and eviction defense services through our HOME Program, and assistance with elder abuse and civil elder law matters through our Elder Outreach Program. You must live in Sonoma County or have a legal matter in Sonoma County. Potential clients must come to the office in person during business hours to be screened for eligibility for services. All Legal Aid services are offered in English and Spanish.

Income Guidelines

All potential clients must be screened to meet Program specific eligibility guidelines. There are no income guidelines for restraining order, elder abuse, or child abuse prevention services. Clients must be low income to receive housing services, and may need to meet income and/or other eligibility requirements for civil elder law services.

Potential clients must come to our office in person to be screened during business hours, and must bring proof of their income with them. Clients 50 and older with an elder law issue may call the Elder hotline (707) 340 - 5610 to see if they qualify for services and to schedule an appointment with an Elder Outreach attorney. All clients must complete intake forms and program specific assessment forms before receiving services.
