For 85 years, Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (LAFLA) has been the frontline law firm for low-income people in Los Angeles. LAFLA is committed to promoting access to justice, strengthening communities, fighting poverty, and effecting systemic change through representation, advocacy, and community education. LAFLA's more than 120 staff provide a comprehensive range of free legal assistance including defending against unjust evictions, obtaining orders of protection, custody of children and key immigration relief to stabilize vulnerable families, obtaining critical government benefits and medical care, fighting wrongful terminations and wage theft, protecting Veterans and their families, and helping to access and maintain affordable housing. LAFLA has six offices, 3 courthouse-based family law/domestic violence clinics, Self-Help Legal Access Centers located in 4 courthouses, and conducts community clinics and outreach in locations throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
