NEW LAWS: - The base minimum wage in California is increasing in January 2025 to $16.50 (Minimum wage is higher for health care workers and fast food workers). - Employers are no longer allowed to require employees to use their vacation time before using paid family leave. (AB 2123). - Independent contractors must be paid on or before the date specified in their contract or within 30 days after services are completed if no date is specified. (SB 988). - It is illegal for many job ads to require job applicants to possess a driver's license. (SB1100).
