Catholic Charities of Stockton provides assistance to immigrants to help them fully integrate into life in America. Education and Outreach programs are an essential part of our commitment to helping immigrants in the area.
 

Citizenship Classes

Become a United States Citizen!

Our dedicated instructors and tutors will help you to learn and gain confidence to apply for citizenship. Catholic Charities offers Immigration Legal Assistance with naturalization application process. It would be our pleasure to help you become a US citizen

 

Catholic Charities Immigration Legal services (CCILS) serves residents of the six counties of the Diocese of Stockton regardless of income, race or gender in San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Tuolumne, Calaveras, Alpine, and Mono. 

We serve low-income families who request assistance with immigration legal services.

CCILS provides low-cost reliable, professional and confidential services related to immigration and naturalization. The agency has Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) staff.

CCILS engages in community outreach and advocacy for the immigrant community within the counties of the Stockton Diocese.
Assistance is available in English and Spanish. Throughout the years the agency has served people from various countries.

CCILS provides case management, updated information on immigration policies and procedures and supportive counseling.

Family Reunification/Naturalization

CCILS assist clients in filing applications for the following:

  • Naturalization/Citizenship
  • Green Card renewal and replacement
  • Special case waivers
  • Adjustment of status
  • Family immigration
  • Affidavit of Support
  • Work Authorization
  • Naturalization/Citizenship workshops are available throughout at various parishes.

Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals (DACA)

The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals Program provides relief from removal and a work permit for two years to certain eligible undocumented youth. Among other requirements, DACA eligible individuals must have entered the United States before age 16, prove they have continuously lived in the U.S. since 2007, meet an educational requirement, and must not have committed certain offenses. Many are current students, college graduates, and individuals that have family, employment, and community ties to the United States.

This program assists DACA eligible individuals to complete and submit an application.

English as a Second Language (ESL)/Civics Education Program

This program provides weekly English/Citizenship classes to assist Lawful Permanent Residents pass the Naturalization examination. Classes are offered in Stockton on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Free childcare is provided.
