Who We Are
ALRP's mission is to advance and protect the rights, dignity, and health of people living with HIV/AIDS in the Bay Area. ALRP accomplish this through direct legal representation by one of its 10 Staff attorneys, by careful placement of clients with one of 150 volunteer Panel attorneys, and by connecting its clients to non-legal service providers to secure other vital resources.
Every year, ALRP helps hundreds of clients stay in their homes, gain access to healthcare, become legal citizens, improve their finances, and connect to other community services. By addressing their legal problems, ALRP seeks to improve its clients’ health and well-being.
Founded in 1983, ALRP has handled over 99,000 legal matters, with over 90% of its clients expressing satisfaction with the services they received.
ALRP's primary practice areas include:
- Housing rights and eviction defense
- Immigration
- Consumer advocacy
- Insurance and public and private benefits
