NEW LAWS: The base minimum wage in California is increasing in January 2025 to $16.50 (Minimum wage is higher for health care workers and fast food workers).
Also, Employers are no longer allowed to require employees to use their vacation time before using paid family leave. (AB 2123).
Furthermore, Independent contractors must be paid on or before the date specified in their contract or within 30 days after services are completed if no date is specified. (SB 988).
Finally, in January, it will be illegal for many job ads to require job applicants to possess a driver's license. (SB1100).
