888-4-EITC-4U

Taxpayers who call 888-4-EITC-4U (888-434-8248) will be greeted with an automated message with Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) eligibility guidelines and will then be prompted to enter their five-digit zip code.

Callers will then be routed to a local agency that will provide additional information about the EITC and schedule an appointment for free tax preparation. Examples of participating agencies include: Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) programs, United Ways, and legal aid programs.

If there are no free tax preparation providers in their area, they will be given an 800 number to the IRS and the I-CAN! E-File website.
