Santa Clara County Asian Law Alliance (ALA) provides legal counseling and legal representation focusing on the Asian and Pacific Islander communities of Santa Clara County.  Legal consultations are not restricted by income guidelines, however, legal representation cases are limited to clients below the CDBG (Community Development Block Grant) Low income level.  This is defined at 50% of the San Jose Median Income as defined by HUD.  Representation cases are limited to the following areas: domestic violence, public benefits, housing cases, naturalization, VAWA self petitioning and also applications for T visas.  Community education is also a priority service for ALA.  Each year staff gives over 100 presentations on legal rights and responsibilities to over 4,000 individuals.
