The Asian Pacific American Legal Center (APALC) provides free legal assistance to low-income individuals, focusing on Asian and Pacific Islander (API) communities, especially recent immigrants and refugees and limited English speaking individuals.  APALC provides assistance over the telephone or in-person (appointments are required, no walk-ins please) as described on this website.

In addition, APALC seeks social justice and equal rights through impact litigation, public policy advocacy and leadership development trainings.

Counties Served:  Los Angeles, Orange
 
Asian Language Hotlines provide advice to L.A. and Orange Counties. In addition to the Hotline languages, assistance in other Asian languages and Spanish are also available.
Other Languages Spoken:  Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Spanish, Cambodian
Interpreters can be provided for: Will do best to meet all needs for cases accepted (e.g. Indonesian, Japanese, Hindi, Spanish.) We Also have other language lines: Cambodian: 800-867-3126, Cantonese & Mandarin: 800-520-2356, Korean: 800-867-3640, Vietnamese: 800-267-7395

Income Guidelines: 

  We assist low-income persons. Asian Language Hotlines assist low-income persons who speak these languages: Cambodian, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese.
 
In limited cases, mainly immigration, APALC provides services on a fee-for-service basis. We have no immigration restrictions.

This group provides the following types of services based on your legal needs and its resources:
 
  Full Legal Representation- APALC provides a range of services form legal information and advice to representation depending on your specific situation. Call for an assessment.
  Brief Advice- Through Asian Language Hotlines: Consumer and Small Claims, Families and Kids, Housing, Immigration, Individual and Civil Rights, Protection from Abuse, Public Benefits and Health, Work.
